How it all began

Made with intention.
Worn with heart.

Spread Love didn't start in a boardroom. It started on a porch, with a cup of tea, and a question: what if getting dressed in the morning could be an act of love — toward yourself and everyone you meet?

The beginning

One idea on a slow Sunday.

In 2019, our founder, Lila, found herself sitting on her grandmother's porch in Asheville, watching the neighbors wave at each other like old friends. She noticed something: everyone was wearing something that made them smile. A vintage band tee. A hand-me-down sweater. A shirt that said "Be Kind."

That night, she sketched the first Spread Love design on a napkin — a simple heart with rays like sunshine. The idea wasn't revolutionary. It was just kind. And kindness, she realized, was exactly what the world needed more of.

She saved for six months, found a small ethical manufacturer in Portugal, and printed 200 shirts. They sold out in four days. Not because of marketing. Because people were hungry for something genuine.

I didn't set out to build a brand. I set out to build a reminder — that love is a choice we make every morning.

Our promise

10% gives back. No fine print.

From day one, we decided Spread Love would never be just about selling shirts. Every order you place sends 10% directly to organizations doing the hard, beautiful work of caring for people.

We partner with small, grassroots nonprofits — the ones with big hearts and tight budgets. Mental health collectives. Community gardens. Youth mentorship programs. We pick partners who believe, like we do, that love is a practice.

You don't have to check a box. You don't have to round up. The giveback is built into every price tag. Because doing good shouldn't be an extra step — it should be the default.

What we believe

The non-negotiables. The nice-to-haves are the must-haves.

Organic, always

GOTS-certified cotton. No pesticides, no shortcuts. The kind of fabric that feels like a deep breath.

Fair wages, full stop

Everyone who touches a Spread Love shirt — from the cotton farm to the shipping dock — earns a living wage.

Water-based inks

No harsh chemicals. No plastic-feeling prints. Just soft, vibrant color that breaks in like your favorite jeans.

Small batch, on purpose

We print in limited runs to avoid waste. If a design sells out, it sells out. Scarcity is kinder than surplus.

"I bought a shirt. Then I bought six more. Not because I needed them — because wearing them reminded me to be the person I want to be."
